RPA - a vital journey for South African businesses.
While South African organisations have been incorporating robotic process automation (RPA) into their business processes and strategies, a significant gap has emerged between those embracing the technology and those still testing the waters. Larger institutions, such as banks and financial institutions, have already adopted RPA across the organisation, with some even building their own platforms. While a few companies are doing this strategically throughout the business, others tend to focus on introducing RPA at a departmental level, using a variety of tools and platforms. Microservices: The future of software architecture.
Microservices architecture is a framework for future-proofing solutions when developing applications so that they can easily be updated and adapted as a business changes. A shift away from traditional development approaches, which saw business developing entire applications as a singular monolithic structure, microservices make it possible to split an application into a collection of loosely-coupled services. Strange neutron star spinning every 76 seconds is discovered in stellar graveyard.
An international team of scientists has discovered a strange radio emitting neutron star which rotates extremely slowly, completing one rotation every 76 seconds. The team, led by members of the ERC-funded MeerTRAP (More Transients and Pulsars) group at the University of Manchester, says it is a unique discovery as it resides in the neutron star graveyard where they do not expect to see any radio emission at all.
The metaverse: FOMO or JOMO?
For something so high-profile, the concept of the metaverse is nothing new. Many people reading this will remember SecondLife - an earlier incarnation of the meeting of physical and digital worlds. Despite gaining widespread popularity at the time, its cultural relevance didn’t last particularly long. So where is the metaverse going to succeed where previous attempts have failed? USB-C power delivery data lines demand enhanced protection.
USB-C and USB-C power delivery raise voltage and power levels. A new reversible connector with tighter pin pitch than that of USB Micro-B, increases the risk of short circuits. This, in conjunction with the ever increasing complexity of portable devices leads to enhanced ESD, surge and overvoltage protection requirements. In this design solution we propose a compact, fully featured protection IC that can lead to a dramatically lower BOM and smaller PCB space occupancy.
