Einstein was right after all!
An international team of researchers from ten countries led by Michael Kramer from the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn, Germany, has conducted a 16-year long experiment to challenge Einstein’s theory of general relativity with some of the most rigorous tests yet. Their study of a unique pair of extreme stars, so called pulsars, involved seven radio telescopes across the globe and revealed new relativistic effects that were expected and have now been observed for the first time.
Cyberattacks increased by 50% with Africa the most targeted region
Last year, the number of cyberattacks recorded was record-breaking, with a 50% increase in overall attacks per week on corporate networks compared to 2020. In fact, in 2021, the world witnessed one of the most serious vulnerabilities on the internet, with millions of attacks per hour attempting to exploit the Log4J vulnerability in what’s been dubbed a cyberattack pandemic.
Africa experienced the highest volume of attacks in 2021 across five surveyed regions. Across the continent, an organisation had to contend with an average of 1 582 cyberattacks per week, which is a 13% increase from 2020.
