The Manufacturing Indaba has announced a collaborative partnership with the Toyota Wessels Institute for Manufacturing Studies (TWIMS). This strategic alliance aims to drive innovation, foster growth and enhance the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector in Africa.
TWIMS, renowned for its dedication to manufacturing education and research, will bring its extensive expertise and resources to this partnership. The collaboration will focus on:
- Educational programmes: Developing and offering advanced training programmes tailored to the needs of the manufacturing industry. These programmes will aim to upskill the workforce, ensuring they are equipped with the latest knowledge and techniques.
- Industry research: Conducting cutting-edge research to address current challenges and identify opportunities within the manufacturing sector. This research will be pivotal in shaping future strategies and policies.
- Strategic discussions: Hosting forums and workshops that bring together industry leaders, policymakers and academics to discuss trends, share best practices and explore innovative solutions.
- Innovation and sustainability: Promoting sustainable practices and encouraging the adoption of innovative technologies to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
By partnering with TWIMS, the Manufacturing Indaba reaffirms its commitment to supporting the growth and development of the manufacturing industry. Coupled with the support that TWIMS will provide to the Manufacturing Indaba, an additional supporting event will be hosted by TWIMS alongside the Manufacturing Indaba.
Exploring manufacturing best practice
The supporting event will be hosted at TWIMS in Ethekwini on 24–25 October 2024 to provide experiential learning and will include site visits to leading South African manufacturing facilities.
