President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Solly (Mmoba Solomon) Malatsi as Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, taking over from the current incumbent, Mondli Gungabele, who now becomes the Deputy Minister. Malatsi is amongst a group of appointees as Ministers and Deputy Ministers under 40 years old.
Solly Malatsi has been a Member of the National Assembly since May 2014. He has served in the national leadership of the Democratic Alliance (DA) as a deputy federal chairperson since 2023.
He matriculated from Phiri Kolobe High School and obtained a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Limpopo. Malatsi also achieved an Honours Degree in political studies from the University of the Witwatersrand. Malatsi is a graduate of the DA's Young Leaders Programme.
The Minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa remains in the cabinet but has energy added to his portfolio. The Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy is Samantha Graham.
Blade Nzimande loses higher education by remains in cabinet as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Cabinet minsters and deputies will be sworn in on 2 July 2024
